Satin stitch design

Last year when I subscribed for the Anchor Needle n thread magazine i got a small kit with the first issue.  It contains a small design to be embroidered in a hankie with the fabric, thread and needle.  I have decided to do a simple project in between my new chikan kurti project.  so I have taken the kit and embroidered this design.

The embroidery is done using Satin stitch.  The edges of the hankie has to be completed.  I thought of doing a simple crocheted border.  Now, have a look at the design.

I didn't get the direction of the stitches right.  Should try more in satin stitch.  Currently, I am doing a project on chikan embroidery kurti and a cross stitch puppy.  In between some crochet works are also going on.  I will meet u with a crocheted doily in next post. Till then, Happy embroidering.

Pillow cover with kutch work border

I have done a kutch work border some time back and i have a post regarding it here.  It has been attached to a pillow cover and it is for display today.  Have a look and give your feedbacks.

I made a set and now look at both the covers.

I have added crocheted edging and it adds beauty to the covers.   That's all for today.

Kutch work Saree - started

I have started this blog to show case my craft works and I was concentrating mainly on embroidery works. But crocheting also takes my time as a project can be completed easily within a short period of time than embroidery.  This year i have started a saree project focussing on kutch work. It is a plain saree of dark blue color with a simple golden zari border.  The saree and the design which i have selected is here;

I have selected Anchor cotton thread and have done the embroidery in two strands.  A single motif which I have worked in the pallu part is shown.  Other than Kutch work i have used herringbone stitch and chain stitch.  I am working on the pallu part now and have to do a border on one side.  After completing that I will post my progressed work.  till then, Happy embroidering.

You can see my other kutch works here.

Pinwheel Table Runner - Quilted

Belated New year wishes to all.  Let this new year brings happiness in everyone's lives.

I was a bit lazy to write a post though I had some completed projects in hand to show off.  Don't know why.  Only today I came out of that laziness and decided to use my time properly.  Last year,  when I came across some blogs I have seen beautiful quilts and the blocks that make up the quilts.  You tube has been a great video source and I was fascinated by some of the tutorials of making the quilt blocks.  Easy to make and can complete a project within a short period of time.

Moreover, I had worn out night dresses in my wardrobe. I have taken those dresses, cut the part which is in the good condition, neatly ironed in a plan of making doormats with those pieces of fabrics.  But after seeing the videos of quilting I got interested to make one and tried some blocks.  One is a pinwheel block.  I have shown it here:

I was really happy on seeing the completed block.  Made two more blocks and attached it to make a runner. Then used a batting and the backing fabric.

For the edges I have used a black ribbon and binded it with mitered corners.  Since I didn't have any idea of quilting i have straight stitched along the joining of each piece of fabrics.

It is lying on dining table now.

I am happy that I have recycled my old clothes.  I will be showing the blocks which I have done one by one in the coming posts.
