Smalls SAL - January, Black and white Quilt blocks

Hello all

January is going to end and this month my crafting time was going as per my schedule and I have managed to finish a couple of things.  Last year I have participated in two cross stitch SALs , Smalls SAL hosted by stitching lotus and rainbow sal   from Connigeedesigns.  I managed to be on time till may for the smalls SAL and I have stitched only two months charts in the rainbow sal.   So I thought I will continue with those WIPs this year.

For the last years Smalls SAL I was stitching LucieHeaton fairies and luckily I have saved all the charts when they r free to download.  Now it is not free.  For this month I continued to stitch the June fairy and added the backstitched words "Be strong".

So far I have stitched  6 fairies and 6 more to go to complete the piece.

I am linking this post to Smalls SAL 2018 - January.  Ha ha I managed to join the link party in the last moment.

In the beginning of this year I have bought fabrics to make a black and white half square triangle blocks quilt.  I am doing 1 block per week on Thursday.  So far I have completed the four blocks for January.  Though they are not perfect I like it.  Framing the blocks will be done in red color.

I am following this site  to do the blocks.  I have cut  many squares at a time make half square triangles out those squares whenever I feel to sew.  Then on every week Thursday I will be following the block pattern and sew the block.

I am happy to say that I am going to finish another page in my mega cross stitch project.  Hope to show that page in my next post.  Some cross stitch cushions and a purse is in the queue to get showcased here.  So do watch my space.

Happy cross stitching and happy quilting.

  1. Doesn't it feel good to be on schedule? You have made another charming fairy and the black/white HST blocks are striking, and will be even better when framed with red.

  2. Cute fairy! Did you cut the triangles using rotary cutter? I can't cut properly using rotary cutter. How large is your quilt going to be ?
