Simple hand embroidery design with a combination of kasuti and kutch embroidery

Today I am very happy to share with you an easy embroidery design that combines both kutch and kasuti embroidery.  This design can be used as a motif all over the sarees and kurtis.  And when worked continuously it forms a beautiful border to the dresses.

The design size is 3" x 3".  I have used three strands of anchor embroidery thread for both kutch and kasuti works.  For the sample I have used red colour silk cotton fabric with black and white threads.

Hand embroidered Kasuti work kurti Neck design

Hope all are doing well and good.  Today I am happy to share with you a kasuti embroidered kurti in green colour.  I am doing this design for the second time. You can view the first one here.  This time also I have done in same color fabric with the same color threads.  But this time I have traced the complete design using carbon paper.  And the advantage is I have completed the embroidery without any confusion and 4 to 5 hours of time is also reduced than working with net.  Because while working with net we have to refer the design pattern and we have to remember it.  But this time that problem is not there and I have completed the whole neck design in 10 hours.  Have a look at the work.

Simple Kasuti Embroidery Motifs for Sarees & Kurtis | Free Pattern + Step-by-Step Tutorial

 Kasuti embroidery is one of the most traditional and intricate embroidery styles from Karnataka, India. Known for its delicate patterns made with straight stitches, it beautifully enhances sarees, kurtis, and dress materials with elegance and charm. The motifs are usually inspired by nature, temples, birds, and geometric shapes, making them timeless and graceful. In this post, I have provided simple Kasuti embroidery motifs that you can easily try on sarees and kurtis to add a touch of heritage and handcrafted beauty to your outfits.

I had the joy of creating this saree for a special client who found me online after seeing my embroidery works. We had a lovely discussion about the designs, the size of the motifs, and the overall look she wanted. Once everything was decided, I started working on the embroidery with a lot of excitement and completed it in 15 days. It was such a fulfilling experience to see the design come alive, knowing it was made just for her.

The saree was designed with a total of 15 big motifs, 20 small motifs, and 10 mini motifs. Each big motif took me nearly 50 minutes to complete, while the smaller ones took around 30 minutes each. The mini motifs were quicker, taking about 7 minutes each, yet they added a delicate charm to the overall design. Altogether, the embroidery took me around 20 hours to finish, with every stitch adding to the beauty and uniqueness of the saree.

Hope all are doing well and good.  Today I am happy to share with you an embroidered purse with a kasuti motif.  The purse is a plain one purchased from amazon.  The using the kasuti net I have embroidered this motif and then removed the net.  A beautiful kasuti embroidered purse is ready.  You can see the process in the video given below.

This design can be extended to form a neck pattern also.  The big motifs can also be used as an all over motifs for dresses.

Simple Kasuti embroidery Neckdesign

 Hi all

Hope all are doing well and good.  Though I love to do all sorts of embroideries, kasuti and kutch embroidery is my favourite.  I try to do kasuti embroidery that looks similar on the front and back side of embroidery.  Recently using a border design I have created a neck design.  This is a very simple design.  that has one single motif repeatedly.

I have done a sample neck design.  The measurements are not proper.  It's just a model.  Have a look at it.

I have added golden stones along the edge of each motif.

The beauty of kasuti is that we can create same pattern on front side and back side of fabric.  You can see it from the photograph below.

Take straight stitches in the following order

1-2,  3-17,  9-10

11-12,  9-12,  11-10

9-17,  21-17,  18-17

8-5,  6-7,  8-7

6-5,  8-17,  19-17

20-17,  14-15,  16-13

14-13,  16-15,  14-17

3-4,  1-4,  3-2

Kasuti Embroidery Design / Holbein Stitch Design

Hope all are doing well and good.  Today I am happy to share with you a simple  kasuti embroidery design that can be used for dresses.  It can be used as an over all design for sarees or kurtis.  Also if it is worked repeatedly it forms a wide border for the dresses.  

Let's see the design first.

I have used 3 strands of anchor embroidery threads throughout this design.   I have made a video to show the stitching of this design.  If you are interested check the following video.

  

 

Now onto the pattern.

You can use a graph paper to draw this design.  Usually 10 lines per inch graph paper is the best to draw the kasuti patterns.  Hope all of you like this design.  I am working on a kasuti neckline with another pattern.  

Simple Kasuti Embroidery Neckline

Hope all are doing well and good. For the past few years I have embroidered some kurtis using kasuti embroidery.  But haven't designed any necklines.  Since the time I started doing kasuti sampler I am thinking of doing a simple kasuti neckline.  Finally the day came and I have designed this simple neckline along with the video.

You can print it in an A4 paper.  For this size I have used 4 strands of thread.  The single design can also be used as an all over motif for dresses.

Kasuti Embroidery Trimmings and Motifs - Part 3

Hope all are staying safe and doing good.  In the beginning of April I have started to do a kasuti sampler in aida cloth.  You can see both the posts in the following links:

Today I have added 5 more trimmings and 4 motifs in that sampler.  All these trimmings are worked on  10 ct aida with 3 strands of anchor thread.  Come let us see the trimmings now.  

The first trimming has a diamond with three spokes and an inverted 'v' on the fourth side . The diamonds are connected with horizontal lines and another inverted 'v'.

The second trimming is a floral motif .  This also has an inverted 'v' element where the stalk of the flower rest.  All the motifs are connected to each other through horizontal lines.   I am planning to work this trimming as a border for a dress and the floral part separately as a butti all over the dress. 

The third trimming is a development of the first one.  On top of each diamond there are three spokes.  To fill the space between the diamonds another three spoke elements have been added.  I am working on a neck design using this trimming.  Next week I will be posting it.  

The fourth trimming is also like a simple flower with 2 creepers on both the sides of the stalk. 

The fifth trimming is a development of the zig zag one with 3 spokes up and down alternatively. This will be so beautiful for necklines. 

We will move on to the motifs now.  These are worked with 2 strands of anchor thread in 14 ct aida.

So far I have completed 20 trimmings and 9 motifs.  Will be back with another set soon.
