Cross Stitch Finishes for Christmas

 Hi all,

Hope all are doing well.  Our Christmas celebrations are over and happy that everything went on well.  As a part of Christmas, I used to stitch something like ornaments every year.  This year I have stitched two wall hangings.  I have completed one fully and for the other stitching part is over but finishing it into a wall hanging is still pending.

I wanted to blog about it before this year because in new year I wanted to show new projects to you.  So, onto the cross stitch pieces.

This chart I got from pinterest.  This one I haven't completed into wall hanging.  Now the next  one.

For this instead of hemming the border I have removed 4 rows of threads each sides.  Then glued it to the glitter foam and then glued the glitter foam to a cardstock.  I have placed this in an easel stand instead of tying a ribbon at the back.

That's all for today's post.  If possible I will try to make a collage of all the projects which I have done this year.  Till then, Happy cross stitching and a Happy new year.

Crochet Coasters, Miniature frock

 Hi all,

Hope all are doing well.  We are all getting for Christmas.  Today I have come up with two little crochet projects that I have  done to get instant satisfaction.

Miniature Frock

I love to crochet wearables.  But there is  no one to wear it.  Moreover the climate in our place is hot.  So nobody likes to wear a crocheted item.  Nowadays crocheted shrugs are seen here and there. So to satisfy myself I have crocheted this miniature frock.  I like it very much.  I started by seeing a pattern from the net.  But changed some stitches count in order to get it right according to my taste.  It came out perfect.

I was not able to stop with one and made another one.  The hanger in the above frock is the one which my friend Mini gifted me.  The frock fits the palm of my hand.  Very cute little frock.

COASTERS
----------------

These are the two coasters which I have crocheted in a single sitting that too for instant satisfaction.  I followed a pattern from crochet n create.   I  was not able to find the pattern in that website now. you can find  more simple and interesting mandala patterns and other patterns too.

I hope all of you like these two cute crocheted items.  I will be back with another finish in  my next post. Till then, happy crocheting.

Embroidery design - Buttonhole / Blanket stitch

Hi all

Here is my next free embroidery design.  An easy stitch to embroider flowers.  Easy way to fill the flowers.  You can use this stitch to embroider leaves also.

Pattern for the design
--------------------------------------

Here, the big flowers are divided into three parts.  The outer part has been worked with buttonhole stitch.  Then worked some straight stitches from the middle of each stitches towards the second part of the flower.  From the middle of each straight stitches, some more straight stitches have been worked towards the center of the flower concentrating the round in the center of the flower.  Then the flower center is worked with french knots.

The small flower is worked with outer layer of button hole stitches and with straight stitches towards the center and then french knots in the center.

Leaves are all worked with buttonhole stitch drawing a line the middle of the leaves.  Then the middle line is stitch with back stitch. If you feel the background fabric is shown after stitching the leaves, some straight stitches can be worked with the next darker shade of the thread to fill the gaps.  I have done some straight stitches in the two leaves on top left.

Flowers - Buttonhole stitch with straight stitches and french knots in the center.
Leaves - Buttonhole stitch with straight stitches

All the three small flowers are worked in rosette stitch.  The stitch itself forms a beautiful petal.  It is apt for leaves also.  Then added some french knots over the stem and the stem is stitched using stem stitch, my most favorite one for the stems.  Now over to the stitched sample.

Needlepoint Purse - Oatmeal Stitch

 Hi all

Hope all are doing well amidst the pandemic situation.  In our place we are getting back to normal slowly.  Except schools and colleges all have started working as before.

Today I am happy to show you my new purse which I have made of needlepoint oatmeal stitch.  The name of the stitch appealed me and it is such a simple stitch so that everyone can try with ease.  I learned the stitch from pinterest.  Let me show  my purse first and then we can move on to the details.

I have started to work in a rectangular piece of canvas. I used anchor embroidery threads - 3 strands.  Then used blanket stitch to cover the raw edges.  Then added a lining around the edge of the purse using hem stitch.   Folded the purse leaving the necessary flap for the opening.  Joined the sides using hem stitch using the same color thread of the blanket stitch so that the joining is not visible.   Then attached a velcro on both the flap and the body of the purse using fabric glue.  Ta daa.... the purse is ready.

It has enough room to store my mobile phone, pens and keys.

I am happy with the outcome.  Will try to make a post on the making of a purse soon.  Hope all of you like it.  See you with an embroidery design in my next post. Till then, have a happy time with your needle and thread.

Kurti Neck embroidery sample - Running stitch

 Hi all

Hope all are doing well.

I am happy to share with you all a new sample I have tried for making an neckline for kurti.  I have used the simple running stitch and straight stitch.  Atlast I have added a cut bead in between the design.

I have drawn straight lines that form a diamond.

The stitches should not cross each other at the intersection of the lines.  At the intersecting point of the lines the fabric should be seen.

Added straight lines at the intersecting points using orange color thread.

For the outlines I have whipped the running stitch with orange color thread.

Added cut beads on the centre of the diamonds.  I will share with a proper design with correct measurements when I post the kurti.  This is only a stitched sample.

In my next post I will come up with a needlepoint purse. Till then, happy embroidering.

Crochet Blanket

Hi all

Hope all are safe.  Today I am here to share my crochet blanket which I have completed using the yarn scraps which have been collected over the past few years and still more scrap yarns are left.

I have done two rounds of granny squares using the scraps and then a round of white.  After making two same color granny squares I have joined them together and bordered the two squares using black.

Made twenty rows and then bordered them with pink or purple.

Likewise added six columns with twenty rows each and finally added two rows of border and finally completed.

These are the two blankets which I am having in my cupboard now.  The blanket which I have started last year is waiting to get joined and I hope I will be able to completed it before 2020 ends.

One of the goal for this year to completed one crochet blanket is achieved. And I am happy about it.  Now I will be able to concentrate on the other projects.

I will come up with another embroidery design in my next post.  Till then, Happy crocheting.

Hardangar - Aura Doily

Hi all

Hope all r doing well.

Today I am happy to share with  you all my new hardanger doily called Aura doily.  It is a kit I have bought from Anita of Artistic fingers.  I am happy that I have done a proper hardanger piece with the proper threads and needles for it.  It took me a week to complete it and looking forward to do more hardanger pieces.

But I didn't have the hardanger fabric at hand now and once the lockdown is over and everything comes to a normal I will purchase the hardanger fabric and do some projects out of it.  Now have a look at the doily.

It looks beautiful on a black background.  But I am afraid that it may get stains and I am in a plan of framing my first hardanger piece.  with a black background and white frame.

Hope all of you like it.  I am ready with two more embroidery designs and I will be back with that post in a couple of days.  Till then, Happy embroidering and all of stay home, stay safe and be positive.
