Hi all
Hope all are doing well and good. After a long time I am sharing a picture tutorial for an embroidery stitch. It is flat stitch and it belongs to fishbone stitch family.
This stitch is similar to fishbone and opened fishbone stitch. But this design cannot be worked in design that have sharp ends. So it is not suitable for leaves with sharp ends. But it is a best stitch to fill in petals of the flower.
Let's move on to the tutorial. Draw a shape as shown below. The lines are labelled as A, B, C, D.
Bring the needle up through the fabric at line A.
Insert the needle in through the line C a little slantingly.
Again bring the needle up at line D.
Insert the needle in through the line B closely below the first stitch formed.
Two stitches will be formed like this.
Again make a stitch from A to C.
Then make a stitch from D to B closely to the previous stitch.
Continue the above two steps and this is the result when we are halfway through. Continue to the shape is covered.
Back side will look the above and you can anchor the thread under the stitches formed.
This is a completed flat stitch.
Hope you find this tutorial useful. Will be back with the video tutorial and a design to work this stitch. Till then, have a nice and happy embroidering.
