Reversible bag with embroidered flower

Sometime back I saw a video in youtube on making a reversible bag by debbie shore.  Thanks Debbie for the video tutorial.  From that time my hands were itching to make one.  Two weeks back the time came and today i am here to present my reversible bag. The printed fabric which I have used here is my old worn out kurti.

Before that i have done a small piece of embroidery on a cotton cloth.  The embroidery design is taken from mahila art centre book on Kashmiri embroidery.  I have repeated the same design four times so that it takes the shape of the circle.  Coming to the embroidery part the flowers are done using long tailed lazy daisy stitch.  For the stems i have used back stitch and straight stitch. Satin stitch is used for the centre of the flower and for the buds.    Since the black fabric combines with the color of the red printed fabric I have used the embroidered piece for one part of the bag.

The bag can be used in two ways.  This is the first one.

The reverse side of the bag.

Since I followed the video in youtube initially I didn't think of having a interface.  only after completing it, i felt i should have given a interface.  So the bag was not stiff.  Anyway I was happy that i was able to sew a reversible bag.  Soon I will be sewing a bag with proper interfacing.

I have completed some small crochet projects to show you in my coming post. So do watch my space.   Till then happy sewing.

Purse - A sewing Project

I bought a sewing machine, so that I can do some simple embroidery using it.  But I didn't succeed in that. So I started sewing some simple projects.  And here I come to you with a purse.  This time I have attached the zip using the zipper foot and the purse was made in a professional way.  I have followed the tutorial from here.  It came out perfectly.  Thanks Cindy for your excellent tutorial.

I have some Ta..da moments to share with you.The photo session is going on.  Will be back with a Ta..da post. Till then, Happy sewing.

sewing machine cover

I am having a singer talent 3321 sewing machine which I received as a gift from my DH for my birthday.  I found a tutorial for sewing a cover here.  Thanks to Vanessa.  Here I have used the fabrics from my worn out night dresses.  I was not perfect in my attempt but I am happy that I have tried one and it fits my machine.  Also I have used the embroidered piece which makes me more happy.  It is a chikankari  embroidery paisley and I have a post about it here.

For the edge of the cover instead of using the bias binding I have used a satin ribbon and it works out perfectly.

I have started to sew different blocks used in quilts with the old fabrics as a process of recycling.  I will come up with that in the coming posts.

Till then, Happy embroidering and sewing.

A line frock

After buying a sewing machine I wanted to sew wearables.  After sewing the circle skirt I got interest in sewing frocks also.  I have chosen A line frock and got the pattern from here.  Very easy to cut and sew. Instead of the fabric collar I have used the crocheted collar and I have left the pocket part.   And I succeeded in doing it.  I have sewed the collar which I have crocheted.  You can see the details regarding the collar here.

A close up.

This frock fits my niece and I am so happy about it.  Next I am going to try my hands on sewing a blouse.  I am trying to prepare the pattern.  Let me see how it works out.  In my next post I will come with a patchwork table cloth.  So please do visit my space.

Circle Skirt - I have done it.Yey........................

I can't believe that I started sewing.  I have sewed pillow covers earlier.  But not I have started my sewing adventures with the help of the net.  First of all I have come up with a Circle skirt. A very simple one in the cutting part but a bit tricky in sewing the elastic and the seams.  First I didn't succeed but in the second attempt I succeeded.  I have learned to sew this here.  You can find more interesting tutorials for kids in that site.   Now comes the skirt.

I have some more tutorials in my to do list.  I will come up with one by one along with embroidery.
