Needlepoint Purse - Oatmeal Stitch

 Hi all

Hope all are doing well amidst the pandemic situation.  In our place we are getting back to normal slowly.  Except schools and colleges all have started working as before.

Today I am happy to show you my new purse which I have made of needlepoint oatmeal stitch.  The name of the stitch appealed me and it is such a simple stitch so that everyone can try with ease.  I learned the stitch from pinterest.  Let me show  my purse first and then we can move on to the details.

I have started to work in a rectangular piece of canvas. I used anchor embroidery threads - 3 strands.  Then used blanket stitch to cover the raw edges.  Then added a lining around the edge of the purse using hem stitch.   Folded the purse leaving the necessary flap for the opening.  Joined the sides using hem stitch using the same color thread of the blanket stitch so that the joining is not visible.   Then attached a velcro on both the flap and the body of the purse using fabric glue.  Ta daa.... the purse is ready.

It has enough room to store my mobile phone, pens and keys.

I am happy with the outcome.  Will try to make a post on the making of a purse soon.  Hope all of you like it.  See you with an embroidery design in my next post. Till then, have a happy time with your needle and thread.

First finish of 2018

I am happy to show the first finish of this year, Bargello purse.  I have already blogged about it here. I have completed the embroidery yesterday and sewed it into a purse.

I found a matching zipper in my stash and the purse has enough room to store  pen, mobile and some money.   I added a lining too.

I found this pattern on pinterest.  Happy that I have finished completed one purse and it is going to the church sale bag.

Also, I have started one more needlepoint purse with log cabin pattern and it is in progress.  This year I have planned to make a quilt with half square triangles in black, white and red color. Will blog about it in my next post.  My mega cross stitch project is also progressing well.

I have started blogging in 2011.  And started doing embroidery that same year. I have learned a lot from the net and books.  Last year I have drawn some small embroidery designs and neck designs.  I will be publishing it in my blog in the coming days.  I am having a target of posting atleast one design per month.  I should stitck to my plans this year.  Because last year I have not been on the track as I have planned.

So what's in your hoop and what are you doing with your needle n thread.  I will be back with the details of my quilt project and progress of  WIP's in my next project.  Till then, Happy embroidering.

Needlepoint purse and some kits I own

Hello all,

Hope all r doing good.  Everything is going on fine from my side and I am busy with embroidering kurtis.  In between that I have done a needlepoint piece and I have turned that into a purse.  The piece of canvas which I have done the needlepoint embroidery is this.

I have done blanket stitch all around.  Then folded the piece into half and sewed along both the sides with hand.  Then added zipper and lined the purse.   It's all done.

Stitch used: Double brick stitch
Done on single taar canvas with 6 strands of threads.
Used three shades of green and yellow color of rangoli thread.

Since the canvas has evenly spaced holes I used back stitch to attach the zip and I find it very easy.  planning to do more on needlepoint cushions.

When my DH went to Thailand for a business conference he got me some cross stitch kits and some stitching accessories.  All these items are from Pinn and B2S shop in the central world plaza, Thailand.  He just picked up randomly and got all these except the dmc threads.

Below one is a bag making kit.  The instructions are written in  chinese language and should try it with the pictures in the instructions.  It will take ages for me.

some stitching and sewing accessories. A yo yo maker, quilting thimble, bias tape maker and two needles.

Also some DMC threads for a cross stitch project.

And this kit is in my stash for so many years and this is from pony craft store.

Hope I have not bored you with so many images.  In my next post I will come up with my crochet doily which I have completed months back.  Till then, have a happy time with needle and thread.  Happy weekend.
