Block stitch purse

Today i am happy to present my block stitch purse. This stitch was in my to do list for a very long time and finally i have learned it and made a 👛 purse out of it. Very happy. I have also attached the zipper and lining and it is perfect now. It has room to hold the necessary things like keys, mobile, money etc.

I have used local acrylic 4 ply yarn and a 4 mm hook.

Learned the stitch from here. You can learn so many stitches in that site.  I am planning to make a bag out of this stitch with black and red.

I have completed a crochet table runner and a cushion cover and a mandala.   Now i am focussing on kutch embroidery kurti and almost the neck part is over. Will come up with my projects one by one. So do watch my space. That's all for now.

Have a nice time with your yarns and hooks.  Happy crocheting.

Something here and there

Hello all
Thanks for your comments in my previous post. I feel like 💃 coz God has been so merciful to us and we are having moderate rainfall past three days. Usually we get low rainfall every year. This week i am in a mood of doing something sort of small projects. And this is what i came up with.

Crocheted some flowers to form a wreath. I followed the youtube tutorial here to make the flowers.

I am going to make a wreath with these.  I have place it in a canvas to see how it looks. I liked it.

What color background can i give for the canvas. I thought i will paint it with light cream. What do you think. Which color suits the best. Please do tell your suggestions.  Or will it look good on a hoop.

Another thing i have embroidered is needlepoint quilt blocks. I have pinnef so many images and patterns in my pinterest board and from that i have done these three blocks to see how it looks on tapestry canvas. It was nice and i will be hanging it my cupboard door.  Finishing is pending.

I will finish both the projects and come up with another post.
My embroidery needle and threads are busy with the following project.

Thats all for now. Have a happy time with needle and thread.

Crochet hotpads

Hello all
Hope every one is doing good.  I have done with some projects but not able to show case it here. Being lazy to write a post.  Today i have been here to show u two hotpads which I have made it for my Christmas collection. Already i had a big hotpad in red color. Here i have used the christmas colors and whipped two of these. The first one is a free pattern called summer waves placemat. Pattern available here

The second one i have played with the yarn in order to create a log cabin block. And I ended up with this. It doesn't look like a log cabin. And it tell me that Shami, u r not able to create a pattern. He he. Anyway i am happy with it.

For both of theses hotpads i have used 4 ply acrylic yarn of local brand and used a 4mm hook. Also I have decided to crochet a wreath for christmas. I am also in the process of making a quilted table runner. More over on my embroidery hoop lies a kurti which is nearing the finish of kasuti embroidery. Next week i will be starting a kutch work kurti for my co sister. My mega cross stitch project is also growing up nicely.

We are nearing the year end. Where does the time flies. Its running sooooo fast. So i will try to finish the WIPs which i have started in the beginning of this year. No more new start this year. Eagerly waiting for 🎄 christmas to come. What about u. I would like to hear from you.

Smalls SAL - July Fairy, MCP update

Hi friends,

Although I complete the fairy on time I was late in posting.  I took only one day to complete it nearly 3 hours.I am happy with the finish.  For this month I am aiming to finish two fairies because I haven't stitched 2 fairies out of 7(jan- july).  So here is my fairy

Also I have completed one more page in mega cross stitch project.  I have moved to second section. Doing 100 stitches a day makes a good progress in a large project like this.  But this month I am not able to do 100 stitches a day since I have a deadline to finish two kurtis.  So after finishing that I will be concentrating on this large project.

After.  Sorry for the wrinkles and creases in the cloth.

Before

In my next post I will come up with an embroidery and its design.  Till then watch this space.

Crochet Hexagon baby blanket - Ta......da.....

Hi friends

Hope all r doing well.  From my side I am busy crocheting for a sale in my church in September.  I have completed some projects and one is a hexagon crochet blanket.  Whenever I see a hexagon in crochet it tempts me to start something on it.  This time I started with a plan of doing a blanket for a single bed.  But I ended up doing a baby blanket. I like to crochet hexagons.  But I didn't like the joining part.  So much to join and so many odd ends. So I finished it into a baby blanket.  On the whole it is a relaxing process.  This is my finished blanket.

I made 5 hexagon flowers with 7 hexagons.  Each hexagon is a of 5 rounds of solid granny hexagon .  Around that I added 12 hexagons to make another round.  Then made half hexagon flower to bring the blanket to rectangle shape.

For joining I place two hexagons with the right sides together and sew then thru the corresponding back loops.

Yarn used : 4 ply acrylic yarn from pradhan.
Hook used : 4 mm
Pattern: Solid granny hexagon.

I am happy that I have completed this blanket within a short period  concentrating only on this.  One more crochet bag is completed.  Waiting for a zipper to get attached.  It will take only an hour to do it.  But it is getting postponed.  I don't know why this happens with most of my projects.  Final touch takes a long time.  Now a days I am addicted to see the videos of creative grandma in you tube.  She teaches crochet stitches that creates a nice texture and have done some swatches watching her videos.  As my next crochet project I am planning to make another bag with one of those stitches.

On my embroidery hoop now

Will come up about this in my next post.  Till then, Happy crocheting and embroidering.

Smalls SAL fairy, WIPs

Hello my dear readers

For the past two months I was not able to stitch my fairies for smalls SAL.  And I managed to stitch the April fairy with a small quote.  I stitched the words using backstitch.   I am happy with the finish. The weather was not good to take a photograph.  Since I want to check in to the smalls SAL on time I managed to take one and that's why my fairy is here today.

Also I whipped some solid granny hexagons and made it into grandmas flower garden hexagon flowers.  I am going to join those flowers to make a baby blanket.

In my embroidery hoop, a kasuti saree WIP.  I am working on this for 10 to 15 mins in a day.  Last year I didn't do anything on my sarees.  Two plain sarees are waiting for their turn and this green cotton saree got into my hoop.  Now I am working on the border.  Below is the progress of 2 days work.  I will be updating the progress on this saree in every 15 days.  The same pattern gets repeated for 9 metres. And I will be adding some big motifs for the pallu and small motifs in between.

My mega cross stitch project is also growing steadily.  I am happy that I am doing 100 stitches a day which makes a fairly good progress..  That's all from my side.   Will see u with another finish.  Till then, Have a happy time with needle and thread.

I am linking this post to smalls SAL June check in.

Popcorn Heart

Hi all

Last week when I was visiting my blogger friends posts Nima's popcorn cushions attracted me.  It was love at first sight.  I love to do popcorn stitch.  Immediately I googled for the patterns and I came across this site which have some basic popcorn charts.  For the base I used Half double crochet.  To my surprise I got succeeded in my first attempt.  I don't want to keep the trial piece in my cupboard sitting idle so I immediately transformed that piece into a cushion.  I used solid granny square around the trial piece.  After attaining the size of the cushion front I made rows of dc's on both sides and made it into an envelope cushion cover.

Back of the cushion cover.  Added some buttons in the opening.  Buttons purchased from Pradhan embroidery stores long back.  I am  happy that I have used that and added to it, it matches well with the color of the cushion.  I will be doing one more with another chart to pair this one,

My work in progress.  I am doing four fabric cushion covers and the first one is over. I am using some quilt block patterns for that.  Second one is in progress.

The name of the quilt block pattern is Hourglass quilt block.  I am not quilting it.  Just adding a backing  fabric.  That's all.  Will   come up with other cushions once I finish it.  Also I've been done with a crochet bag and this week end I will be concentrating to catch up the fairies for the Smalls SAL. A hexagon project is also in progress.  Three more kurtis are also waiting for kasuti and kutch embroidery.  Will see how I am using my time efficiently.

That's all from  my side.  What's going on your crafting table.  Bye.

Crochet purses and Mega cross stitch update

Hi friends

I am here with two crochet purses and an update with my mega cross stitch project.

First the purses.

Stitch used : Primrose stitch
I used 8 ply yarn for this.  This stitch gives a thick dense texture.  So I didn't give any lining to the purse.

Stitch used : Crossed double stitch
I used local acrylic yarn for this.  I am not happy with the way it turned out.  When I saw the tutorial in the above link I thought there will be small holes after crocheting.  But it leaves somewhat big holes and it needs lining.  I didn't line it coz I am going to keep the threads for the smalls cross stitch projects.

Now onto the update on my mega cross stitch project. It's been months I have given an update on this project.  1/4th of the chart has been completed(9 pages).  Still I have to work on 27 pages.  A long way to go.  Now I am concentrating on this with an aim of 100 stitches a day.  Not more than that.

AFTER completing the first set of pages.

BEFORE
Hope by the mid of next month I will try to finish the first page of second part.

For the last two month I didn't stitch the fairies for the smalls SAL.  So not I am catching it now.  Will come back with those fairies in my next post.

We have a set of four cushions in the sofa.  Planning to do a quilt block cotton fabric sofa cover for those cushions as the cover that came along with those cushions released so much of heat during summer.  So before next summer I should finish those four cushion covers.  Fabrics are ready.  Will come up with those details in a separate post.

Thanks for watching my space.  Have a happy time with needle, thread and hooks.

Primavera squares - crochet bag - Ta da

Hello all

It's been more than a month I have posted here.  Though I have some finished projects in hand I was feeling lazy to blog.  May be it's a vacation mood coz the kids are at home.  From Thursday onwards they will be back to school and I kicked my mood to be brisk from this Monday. So here I am with my new crochet bag. Ta ta da..........................

Those who are in crochet world will be familiar with the Primavera flower granny squares.  Whenever I see a project made of Primavera squares my hands will be itching to start one.  Atlast during April I started to whip up some Primavera squares with black, green and orange color acrylic yarn.  After making the squares I decided to finish it up into a small bag bcoz I had black color bag handles in my stash.  You can have a rough idea of making up the bag through the pictures.
Joined two rows with three squares in a row.  Joined two rows separately.  I used sc for joining.  Then done a sc around the three sets.  Then joined the three as follows.

For the zipper part I have done sc on both the sides.  Then made a two patches of  7 rows of sc and sewed it near the opening and other side. Then sewed it to the bag using slip st .  It gives a neat finish and I am very well satisfied this time with the zipper.

I have attached a lining to the bag.  Before that I have sewed a zip closure to the lining.  All these I have done it by hand bcoz my sewing machine has gone for repair as it is not stitching properly.

There is enough room to keep things in the bag

One last shot.  I have purchased these handles from Pradhan embroidery stores, Mumbai.  It's very cheap and available in different colors.  It goes well with small bags.

I hope all of u liked my bag.  I am going to keep this bag for sale in the church. Planning to do one more bag like this with a different square pattern  and also a tote bag to keep it in the sale.  It will take time bcoz I have got three custom orders to do embroidery.  I have got some enquires about the custom order.  For them I will contact you thru mail soon.  Also if any of you are interested in getting kasuti, kutch or other embroidered yokes do leave a message in the comments section along with your email.  I will contact you.

Already I have done with one more crocheted bag.  Yet to add the zipper.  Also,  crocheted two purses for my nieces as they will be back to school on Thursday.  Yet to add lining and zippers.  Will come back with my WIP's and a new cross stitch start in my next post. Till then happy crocheting.

Kutchwork kurti - Ta da moment

Hello all,

Hope all r doing good.  Its 42 c in our place and I am not interested to stitch or craft during day and at night I am not ready to sit in the hall for stitching since we switch on the AC for sleeping. So I rush to the bedroom ASAP.   I have a custom order for a kutch work kurti and I had to send that yesterday I somehow managed to finish it last week.  Till now I have been stitching the readily available designs from the design books.  But this time I have seen a design in an online kurti shop and managed to draw that by myself and stitched it.  Feeling very happy about it as I have designed a pattern for the dress.  Now over to the kurti.

Border for sleeves

Front of the kurti

The fabric is silk cotton and I have stitched using anchor embroidery threads.

Stitches used
----------------
Kutch works - 3 strands(no :254)
Herringbone stitch - 2 strands(no:254)
Chain stitch - 2 stands(no:529 - blue lines)

Happy with the outcome.

This summer we are not going for any vacation  trips. So to please me DH bought me so much crafty items thru amazon.  It includes craft books, rulers, glue gun, fabric, thread etc.  Will come up with those lovely gifts in one of my post.

Now on my embroidery hoop is the april fairy I am finishing for the smalls sal.  One crochet bag is also in the finishing stage and a crochet purse too.  These too are for the sale in the church during September.  In my next post I will come up with the April fairy.  Also I am planning to take up a fourway bargello project.  I have to see whether the threads are available for that.

So I am closing up my post with this.  How is summer in your part of the world. I am drinking only water. cooking two times a day but not interested to eat.  What abt u people?  I am waiting for May to come to an end soon.
