Mandalas after a long time | drawing a mandala and colouring

 Hi all 

Hope all are doing good.  Drawing and doodling is one of the ways to relax my mind.  This year I haven't drawn any mandalas.  So decided to make one.  First I have drawn one and coloured it.  Then then the next day I thought of making a video of drawing a mandala and have done the same design with some modifications.  I am so happy with the result.

Mandala in black background using 3-D opaque ink pens

Hope all are staying safe.  Apart from needle and threads, yarn I used to buy different colour pens and sketches.  I use those pens for doodling and sometimes try calligraphy to relax.  After getting introduced to the art of zentangling and mandala drawing I started collecting more and more pens.  

I started drawing mandalas in A4 paper and then moved on to notes with thick papers.   But I always like something with black background.  I like to do embroidery on black fabric.  When I was searching to buy black chart papers online I found out a note with black sheets.  Immediately I bought one and it was lying for with me more than a year.  Likewise during an online shopping  I bought colour pens seeing the description that it is used to write in dark background.    Also they are all in pastel shades and I purchased it.  Then came to know, it can be used to write in dark colour chart papers as well.  

So two days back when I was not in a mood to embroider I picked that note and those pens and started drawing a mandala out of it.  First let us see the mandala.

Materials used

The inks are watery and it will not be visible that much while drawing or writing.   But once dried up it will be brightly seen as in the above mandala.  Very very useful to write/draw against a dark colour background.  These pens can also be useful to draw dotted mandalas also. 

I have also drawn this mandala in white drawing sheet also.  I have used Maped Color peps Duo colours to colour these.  

I have provided the colouring page for this mandala and also a skeleton mandala.  If any of you interested you can create patterns to fill in the blank spaces.

Mandala Colouring - 2, Doodling

 Hi all

Hope all are staying safe.  In this pandemic situation we are in strict lockdown and my only relaxation is colouring and doodling.  I haven't started to do embroidery after the hurt in my fingers.  I am feeling better day by day and hopefully start to do embroidery soon.  

This is the second page in mandala colouring.  I have done the colouring with ordinary sketch pens only.  This colouring page is from the book Refreshing mandala, a colouring book for adults.

Mandala Colouring - 1 / Adult colouring books

Hi all 

Hope are doing well and staying safe.  Today I am happy to share with yon all a colouring page which I have completed recently.  Why no embroidery? and why go for colouring?  Last year during the lockdown I had purchased some adult colouring books.  But busy with the family and embroidery, I was not able to take up the colouring book.  

This year is also the same, busy with family and blog.  In my free time I used to design patterns for the embroidery stitches and also busy with the WIP's which I have in my basket.  They are all related with needle and thread.  I have many patterns ready to stitch.  But unfortunately my index finger in the right hand got badly hit between the door and the door frame.  By God's grace we were able to get the appointment of the doctor immediately and got the treatment with 3 stitches and a big bandage.  So for the past one week I was not able to do any embroidery. 

 It was very boring and then I took my colouring book and started to colour a page with my thumb and middle finger. And this is what I have finished after 5 days of colouring.  I used ordinary sketch pens to do the colouring.  So onto the colouring page now.

There are totally five books in this series.  The Price is very reasonable so that everyone can afford it.  The paper quality is also good. But  Always I used to keep a thick cardstock paper below the colouring page so that the ink of sketch or pens doesn't bleed into the next pages accidentally.

My all time favourite wordings

 Hi all,

Hope all are doing great.  Today is GOOD FRIDAY. A special day for all Christians.  On this day I am very happy to share with you all my favourite wordings that is related to Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.  It's my all time favourite.  I have written it in my sketch book with a half mandala.  Have a look.

Mandala Doodle

Hope all are safe and doing good.  Today I am happy to share with you my latest creation in doodling.  Few years back I was doodling a lot and was trying my hands in zentangle.  It is a relaxing art which I love to do.  But after that i was very much into embroidery and cross stitch and now and then I tried some zentangle patterns.  I have six patterns to show with you.  But I will blog about it later.  

Drawing a mandala is an art related to doodling.  One fine afternoon I took an A4 paper and black gel pen, drawn some guidelines with compass, protracter and scale and this is what I ended after 4 hours.  It took me another an hour to color it.  Coloring done with color pencils.  I like it very much.  

Do have a look and give your feed backs.  I wanted to record the process from the beginning but because of lack of time I am not into it.  If time permits I will try to do a tutorial on drawing a mandala.

A kutch work finish

Happy to show you a kutch work finish.  Yoke and sleeves for a kurti.  Done using three strands of anchor embroidery thread of shade no. 881.  I ran out of thread in the middle and that's why it took so many days to finish it.  Embroidery is done on silk cotton fabric.

Needlepoint Tent stitch

Last week I have got my mail from Pradhan embroidery stores with some yarns, embroidery threads, purse thread and single thread tapestry canvas.  I am happy that I have got the canvas in my hand.  So with the thought of making a needlepoint stitch sampler I started with the tent stitch.   Used all the six strands of embroidery thread.  I have learned to do the stitch from here.

Doodles and Bracelets

After getting involved in drawing zentangle patterns I have seen some videos on youtube and those videos inspired me to do draw the same and these are results of those videos.  Drawing those patterns were fun and to be special added colors to it using color pencils - a nice way to enjoy what we have done with in our childhood days.  Very enjoyable one and I have learned to draw mandalas also.  Since kids are at home not able to do much embroidery but doing some doodling and coloring in my free time. 

The first picture is a combination of different zentangle patterns and colored after it.  The second one is a mandala drawn with a black gel pen.

Some time back I have bought a rubberband kit and with the help of the videos from youtube I have made some bracelets for my niece.  It is like knitting and easy to do.  Can whip up a bracelet within 5 minutes.  

Next I should get some beads and make bracelets with beads.  So this weekend I should hunt for some beads in the craft shop.  Will come back with another project.  Till then happy doodling.  Have a happy weekend.
