Kasuti Yoke and Border - Finished

Hi friends,

As I have promised in my last post I am here to show the kasuti embroidery yoke and border.  This time I have embroider this in small pieces of fabric so that it can be attached to the main piece.  I have got the kasuti embroidery net from Raja thread stores in chennai but the no of holes per inch is larger than the one which I had earlier.  That's why stitches are somewhat longer.  But it gives perfect look like before.

Fabric used : Black color silk cotton
Thread used: Anchor embroidery thread
No. of strands: 3
Design taken from: Mridulas school of embroidery - kasuti applications book

I have just placed the embroidered pieces on top of the fabric just for an idea how it can be attached to the fabric.

Two years back I have embroidered the same design but with different border.  You can view that piece here.

If any of you is interested in buying this piece do mail me at isseelan@yahoo.com.

Crochet solid granny bag

First of all thanks for all your valuable comments for my cross stitch Jesus on cross.

Last year I have purchased some variegated yarn in an idea of crocheting a blanket.  But I am not pleased with the colors after crocheting the solid granny square and then I decided to change those squares into a bag.  I am happy with the finish.  Made lining with hand. Attached velcro inside and a button outside as an embellishment.

For the handle I crocheted few rows of sc's and then folded vertically and joined with slip stitch.  It gives a nice firm handle. Hope all of you like it.

I am done with my kasuti embroidered neck and border.  And also i am in the finishing stage of a crochet doily.  Will be back with my kasuti work soon.  Till then, do watch my space.  Happy crocheting.

Jesus on the cross

For christians Lent is a holy season remembering the sufferings of our saviour Jesus christ on the cross.  Last year I have started to work on this design and I thought this will be the right season to finish this.  Everyday I have progressed little by little on the month of february and it is completed now.  Happy that it is going to adorn my wall after framing.

The design is taken from alitadesigns.  The link for the chart is here.  So many cute and small designs can be found in that site.

I have crocheted a square.  The name of this square is big june and the pattern is taken from here.   Simple stitches creates a textured square.  I like it very much.

On my embroidery hoop is a kasuti project.  I've got the kasuti net from Raja thread stores chennai.   Will be back with another finish.  Till then, Happy cross stitching and crocheting.

I am linking this post to smalls SAL for February.

A kutch work finish

This is the third finish of this year.   I have done kutch work for the neck and border.  The fabric is golden yellow color silk cotton and the work is done in three strands of anchor embroidery thread no.245.  Already I have done the same design last year.  I have made it simple with embroidery only in the neck and border of the sleeve.  Hope all of you like it.  Waiting for your feedbacks.

You can view the same work which I have done last year with another color combo here.

On the first day of 2016, I was thinking what resolution should I take this year, do's and don't s... I used to think over the situations which irritates me, which hurts me that spoils my mood and at times that thinking spoils my whole day resulting in shouting at my kids.  So I wanted to change that habit and when I was thinking how to change that immediately this verse underlined in red came into my mind.

Though the fig tree should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no cattle in the stalls,

Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.

The Lord GOD is my strength, And He has made my feet like hinds' feet, And makes me walk on my high places. For the choir director, on my stringed instruments.
(Habakkuk:3:17-19)

Whatever the situations may be just rejoice in the Lord.  Just I wrote that in an A4 Paper and then I started formatting it and finally after a month I have ended up with this.  Zentangle art helped me to come up with this. I will be laminating this and it is going to be in my wall so that I can see it often.  I used color pencils and duo color peps to draw these.  I have written the tamil verse for it.

I was playing with picasa and I ended up with this.  Colors are inverted and I like it very much.

One more quote which I like. I have sketched this in my journal.

That's all for today.  I have a crochet finish and a cross stitch is nearing it's finish.  Will come up another my cross stitch finish in my next post b'coz it's related to this lent season.  Bye for now.

A crochet ripple finish

Last December I have started this ripple blanket for my friend who is expecting her second baby on March.  I wanted to do with granny squares.  Since it has the lace effect I started rippling the blanket so that it doesn't have any holes. Everything went on well.  I had only 2 balls of yarn in brown and cream each.  But I needed more than I expected.  I ran out of yarn.  I ordered another set and with great confidence I have ordered the brown on seeing the online catalogue of Pradhan stores.  But to my disappointment It was another shade which I have seen after receiving it.  So I have decided to do rows of dc's on both sides till I reach the size of the blanket.  I have done one dc on top of the dc's in the ripple row but the ends got extended than the ripple's width.  I don't have the patience to unravel it and do it again and thought let it be like a frill at the end.

So what to do with the border.  I had a small amount of yarn left over from the first brown and I have done slip stitch on each stitch on all the four sides. That's all.  Completed.  Phew.

In this photo u can see how much it has been extended.  I am not satisfied with this blanket.  On my embroidery hoop is a kutch work kurti. Will be finishing it this week.  Will meet u with another finish.  Till then, Happy crocheting.

Kasuti tops and a WIP update

This is my second finish for this year.  I have embroidered his kasuti tops. Embroidery is done only for the yoke, border and the border for sleeves.  I have done this upon a request from my co-sis for her colleagues.  I don't know whether they will like it or not.

I have done this in black color silk cotton material with two strands of anchor embroidery thread.
Thread no's: Anchor 167 & 306
No of hrs: 19 hrs

It took more than 1 hr to fix the net and 1 1/2 hrs to remove it after completing the embroidery.

This is the yoke part

This is the border both for the body part and sleeves.

Both yoke and border

I have some more projects to do.  Initially I have got the kasuti net along with the embroidery which I have taken from mridulas school.  Now it's over and I am in need of kasuti net or calico net.  But I don't have any idea from where to get it.  Anyone have any idea?  Do we get the kasuti net around chennai? or anywhere online.  Please do let me know.  Till I get that net I will continue the projects with kutch designs.

You can view my other kasuti projects here.

Now for the update in my mega cross stitch project.  I have completed the page 4 of the harmony cross stitch project.  It took nearly 20hrs to complete this.

Page 4 completed

Hope all of you have like my projects.  Do take time to comment on it as it gives me encouragement to do more.  Will come up with some more projects.  So do watch my space.

Kutch work bag and some crochet.

In my last post I have shown u a kutch work motif.  I have transformed that piece into a bag.  This is my first finish of 2016.  Here it is.

I have followed some youtube tutorials to make this bag.

Also I have worked some crochet squares.
Link for this square is here.  This square is given for the BOMcal in ravelry.

Some solid granny square which I have planned for a blanket.  But after working on it, I don't like the variegated shades in this yarn.  So thought of making it into a bag after working some more squares.

Now I am working on a kasuti kurti and a needlepoint piece.  Hope all of u like my works.  Waiting for your feedbacks.
