 Each leaf is a lazy daisy stitch with a straight stitch inside the lazy daisy

I still remember the first time I embroidered a tiny daisy; it wasn’t perfect, but it bloomed with pride on my fabric and sparked a love for floral designs that has never faded.

 Every embroidery journey begins with something simple yet meaningful. For me, it was the straight stitch—one of the easiest stitches, yet capable of creating delicate little blossoms. I still remember my first 8-petal flower, stitched with two bright colors. It wasn’t perfect, but it bloomed beautifully on the fabric and gave me the confidence to keep going.

In this tutorial, we’ll start with that same flower—an easy 8-petal design using only straight stitches. With just two colors of thread, you’ll see how simplicity can turn into charm.

I have used 3 shades of coral colour from anchor - no's 9,10,11 for the rose and 257 for the leaves and stems.  Use 3 strands of thread throughout the design.

I have used six strands of thread throughout the design.  Embroidered the flowers using blanket stitch and whipped each blanket stitch in contrast colour.  For the stems I have used split back stitch.  For the leaves I have done the simple fishbone stitch but with two colors.  In the centre of the flowers added three french knots.

Raised Lazy daisy flower tutorial

Hope all are doing well and good.  One of the easiest stitch to embroider a flower is lazy daisy stitch.  It is a flat stitch.  Today We are going to see the tutorial for raising the lazy daisy flower.  Very easy to do.

To get a more raised look, you can use yarn instead of embroidery thread for the base i.e) stem stitch rounds.  In place of stem stitch you can also use split stitches.  This flower looks more elegant when worked as buttas all over the saree pallu.  Do give a try.

Shaded Buttonhole stitch flower with a mirror in the centre

Today I am very happy to share with you a super simple flower embroidery with a mirror in the centre.  I am calling it as shaded buttonhole stitch flower because this is done using buttonhole stitch but with a simple variation.  Hope you all will like it.

Simple satin stitch flower

Hope all are doing well and good.  When coming to embroider a flower the first stitch that comes to my mind is buttonhole stitch/blanket stitch.  And my next preference is satin stitch to fill in the petals of a flower.  Satin stitch when worked carefully gives a smooth finish.  Let me show you how I have worked a simple flower using satin stitch.

Blanket stitch flower

Hope all are doing well and good.  Today I am happy to share with you a simple flower design that uses blanket stitch as filling.  This design can be used as a centre design for cushion covers.  Even beginners can also try this.

I have used blanket stitch to fill the petals.  Then outlined the petals with chain stitch.  The spokes in the centre is embroidered using blanket stitch.  And the centre of the flower is filled using French knots.

To embroider this flower I have used 6 strands of thread and for French knots 12 strands of thread with 1 wrap has been used.

Cretan stitch flower embroidery design

Hope all are doing well and good.  Today I am very happy to share with you another embroidery flower design.  It is very simple so that beginners can also give a try.  This design can be used as a single motif as an all over design for your dresses or it can be used as a border design by changing the direction of the motif when worked continuously.

Lazy daisy flower tipped with French knot

Hope all are doing well and good.  Today I am going to share with you a simple variation of lazy daisy flower. I have used French knot to anchor the lazy daisy stitch. Here is the outcome of the flower.

Here I have used 6 strands of thread for the lazy daisy petals. Before anchoring French knot with 2 strands is made and then the petal has been anchored.  Then with a contrasting colour thread make straight stitches inside each lazy daisy petals.  Added 3 French knots inside the flower with 1wrap of 12 strands.

Embroidery Design - Double Cast On stitch

Hope all are doing well and good.  Today I am happy to share with you an embroidery design that can be used to practice double cast on stitch.  This is suitable for beginners and this design can be used in your dresses as well.

Here I have used 6 strands of embroidery threads.  For each petal I used 6 wraps.  Leaves are done using granitos stitch with 4 stitches.  Stem is done using outline stitch.
