Embroidery Stitch Tutorial - Berry Stitch

 Hi all

Hope all are doing good and staying safe.  Two days back I have posted a rainbow colour sampler using berry stitch. Today is the tutorial for berry stitch.  You can pin the below image to your pinterest board.

Berry stitch is a variation of lazy daisy stitch.  It is layers of lazy daisy stitch.  It is also known as Layered Lazy Daisy.   It is an isolated stitch.  The layers give a plumpy  and bold look .  This stitch can be worked in round to form a flower.  Also it can be used to stitch leaves.  If we use different shades of colour in a single berry stitch it can create different effect.

Now onto the tutorial.

Start with a lazy daisy stitch.  To do a lazy daisy bring the thread up through the fabric at 'A'. Then from that same point insert the needle in and bring it out at 'B'.  The thread should be wrapped on top and under the needle.

Pull the needle though.  A chain stitch is formed. anchor the thread by inserting the needle out of the chain stitch.   A lazy daisy stitch will be formed.

Again do the second lazy daisy starting from the same point and ending above the first stitch.  The first stitch should be inside the second one.

Two layers of lazy daisy forms a simple berry stitch.  You can finish it or you can go for another one according to the look of the design.

You can find the practice design here.  Hope all of you find this tutorial useful.  Try this stitch and give your feedbacks.

Have a nice day.
